Use towels, and remember the rear defogger connection.

When putting top on:
(1) lower all windows, open drivers side door
(2) put a towel on each of the rear mounting bolts
(3) balance hardtop on/over head, enter car, slowly sit/slide down
(4) align hard top
(5) remove the towels, sliding the hardtop onto each bolt
(6) latch, connect rear defrogger

When removing top:
(1) DISCONNECT THE REAR DEFOGGER!!!
(2) lower all windows, open drivers side door
(3) unlatch hardtop, slide it back to loosen bolts
(4) slip a towel in between each hardtop-bolt connection
(5) get in car, lift hardtop overhead, slither out

Some people also pack their rear plastic window in terrycloth towels
or the OEM white plastipaper, others think this causes scratches and you
should leave it exposed, I haven't a clue which is better.
