I should have replied to this subject earlier, but didn't know if you would accept a sewn in replacement window, or were looking for original equipment. Anyway, a bit over a year ago, we had the plastic rear window on our TR-8 top replaced (yellowed due to age). The shop that did the work was Central Auto Upholstery in Capitol Heights - 301-336-6676 - they're just outside of DC on the east side. As I recall, the cost was about $175 (the records went with the car when we traded it for the Miata). The top was removed from the car, and the original heat sealed plastic window was cut out, with the new plastic being sewn in place. It was weather tight (which is more than I can say about the rest of the car), and if you don't mind a few loose threads and the old edge from the original plastic window showing, such a repair might be acceptable. It wasn't perfect, but it was OK with me at the time. For our present Miata? --I think I might spend more and replace the whole zippered section, rather than cutting and sewing. However, the $250 price quoted for the sew-in-a-new-window technque may be a decent price, I don't know. It's over a year later than when we had ours done (inflation), and I don't know if it's more difficult to do the job on a Miata than a TR-8 or not (although I find it difficult to believe that any repair on a Triumph could be easier than the equivalent on a Miata). Good luck -- you deserve some after that disaster. --Jack & Anne M.
