Edward Lewis asks about driving the Blue Ridge Parkway.
 
It is a gorgeous trip. However, an article in the WashingtonPost
over the past weekend reported that the Parkway is closed because
of extensive treefalls from the recent storms, and may not
be open for quite awhile. If you plan to drive the Blue Ridge
Parkway, it is probably a good idea to call the Virginia State Police
or the Federals (sorry, I don't know whether it is the National Park
Service or the National Forest Service that controls the Parkway)
ahead of time.
