Does your insurance company require you to notify them when you add these things to your car so they can keep track of the value of the vehicle and make wure your premiums reflect that value? If they do, and then say that they won't compensate you for them, I'd say they're ripe for reporting to your State Insurance Commision (or whatever they call it where you live) for investigation. I'm kind of surprised they won't do "stated value" policies, though.
