Alas! Today some scoundrel hit my Miata while it was parked, and took off. I was indoors running a 10 minute errand, didn't hear anything, and there were no witnesses. Dented the right front fender above the wheel, but the car is still driveable. The estimate from the body shop was $390 to repair the right front fender, replace the right fender splash shield, and paint. (This shop tends to run a bit higher than average, but they do a superb job, especially with paint matching. Sadly, I'm a repeat customer, but this is the first time with the Miata.) Anyhow, so now I'm up-to-date on my insurance with State Farm. Here's the semiannual breakdown (since it's handy): Liability: $173.74 Bodily Injury 100,000/300,000 Property damage 100,000 Medical payment 25,000 26.45 250 deductible comprehensive 83.75 250 deductible collision 164.62 Emergency road service 3.04 Car Rental/Travel Expense 9.04 Uninsured Motor Vehicle: Bodily Injury 100,000/300,000 35.20 Property damage 100,000 2.08 ============================================================= Total $497.92 I have deductions for having multiple cars insured, an air bag, conviction free, and a California Good Driver discount. As a side note, this policy was perhaps $5 more than it cost to insure my previous car, an '85 MR2. On that car, the premiums kept increasing although the car value was decreasing! Checked in with the State Farm agent today, and I have an appointment with the claims adjuster tomorrow. Cindy Paloma
