I looked at the Del Sol and the MR2 as well.

The Del Sol has far more luggage space than the Miata, even with the top
stowed. According to R&T, it's also faster in terms of raw speed. I found
it hard to look at from certain angles, though an owner says the spoiler
helps.

I test-drove a Turbo MR2. Kick-ass acceleration, but what do you do with
it? I was up to 70 mph in no time, and the car was obviously only halfway
to the top. It was odd hearing the engine and shift linkage behind me. I
had a little trouble with the clutch, if I recall. It had more storage
space than a Miata. The price was way out of my range, however.
