About CA PCH - having kindof lived in Carmel I can safely vouch for the stunning beauty of this route. By the way if you really want to test your driving skills may I suggest the following - while in Monterey make a reservation to visit San Simeon (Hearst Castle). Then do not refer to a map and instead rely on an "inner voice" which tells you it's about 30 miles to San Simeon. About an hour before your appointment, look at a map and find out it's closer to 90 miles of twisting winding roads. (There's even a sign that says winding roads next 87 miles! Not to mention the fact that it's instant death if you miss a curve.) Then (here's the key) be so cheap and so daring as to try to make it. (Yes, I did make it - we jumped in the tram bus to go up the hill just as it was leaving.) Re: top speed (not on the aforementioned trip!) About 115 with the top down (stock 92). It really felt like that was about the limit. But it sure did feel good! - Geoff Ghose
