To Steve (and Christina), the touch-up paint sold in the small bottles by Mazda is lacquer paint. I didn't see the original message, but if you are having trouble with the T/P paint, remember that it is sold in the thickness and with applicator in the bottle to essentially serve to fill in chips. In any case the applicator makes it difficult because it serves up too much paint. An alternative that many have used over the years is a paper match stick from what might be a disappearing item (if we are lucky-sorry, smokers). Back to the match old match book. Pull out a match, turn it over, and dab the cardboard end into the paint. It will absorb paint and allow a smoother, more modest amount to be applied at one time. This especially works well with scratches in the paint.
