Regarding purchasing salt blocks to the animals from licking road salt: I got my first real taste of how agricultural a community Madison, WI is when I saw slt blocks for sale in the grocery stores! Threw me at first, but I realized there are a lot of farms all around Madison and most people still go into town for supplies. Certainly, in the Pittsburgh area you should be able to find a seed/feed/supply store that sells salt blocks for animals. While I'm still in the WI frame of mind... my greates temp extreme I drove the Miata in was -20F at 70mph (Dec26, 1992) in a light snow with the defroster going full blast. The heater kept the car warm. I had no trouble with the glass. At times (in less frigid weather) I have seen steam rising off the windshield (from the defroster being on full heat for a while). Again I have not had any problems from the heat differences.... -alex-
