this seems to be sort of a dividing line among car owners...
some people see cars as investments and/or appliances,
while others see them as something more (entertainment, sports, etc.).
there's nothing wrong with either viewpoint, but they *are* different.

for me, as long as i can _afford_ the cost of ownership, i don't
really care what it is, or whether i'm maximizing or minimizing
anything.  perhaps above all, the car has to provide an enjoyable
and interesting experience, and it helps if it works reasonably
well at the same time.

if the Miata manages to serve financial sensibility goals
along with all the other ones it meets, i'm not likely to
complain.  as it is, the car is paid for and has already
been well worth the purchase price.  anything else is
frosting.  guess we've got a lot of frosting to look
forward to!  (anyone baking a cake to go with it? :-)
