Seriously, though, I thought we were _all_ a little obsessed... after all we own two-seaters with no practical function except fun drivng. I like my car because of the way it looks/handles. If that changed, I'd be sad. I have a 1974 Toyota Landcruiser, a true classic 4WD crawler. I let a boyfriend borrow it while I was away for the weekend. He went 4-wheeling and trashed the transmission. Brought it back filthy. Left it in the garage. EX-boyfriend. (Yes, it does look and handle very differently from before I lent it!) It's like microwaving pizza on your mother's best china. If you don't appreciate the value to the _owner_ of what you're borrowing, you will prbably make them flinch/cringe/cry/argue. Is it just a car? NOPE. It's my hobby, my pet and my investment. Other people don't feel the same way if their car doesn't fit into the hobby/pet categories, but Ol' Brian would probably have been pissed if I treated his dog the way he treated my truck. My mileage will vary, but since I hang around with a bunch of other car-nuts, folks usually understand. (pause while I parachute off my soapbox) Hey, if you've got a miata that's JUST A CAR can I talk you into trading it for a '72 Opel GT? It runs!! It has two seats!! It's _just_ a car! :-) kate
