Well, working about three miles from the Pamela Basu murder/car-jacking
that recently occurred, it is a subject that has popped into my skull
more often than I'd like.

The best defense is just keeping your guard.  Unfortunately, the government
is working hard at taking away our ability (and responsibility) to protect
ourselves.
