I don't think so.

Other than being very alert, and as much as I hate to 
admit it, you can always get another 
Miata.  It's better than then getting shot/physically 
disabled to the point where you couldn't even drive 
the car you saved. 
 
(Now maybe if there were no weapons displayed, and
the road/escape route was clear...)
