From: "R. Donald Doherty, Jr." Subject: A couple of questions... Date: Sat, 7 May 1994 14:29:51 -0400
Greetings Miataphiles, A friend of mine who owns a white 90 base Miata is having a curious problem and wanted to appeal to the miata.sage.net for advice. After a heavy rain two months ago he went out to his car to find about 1/2" of water in the passenger footwell as the passenger window had been left slightly open by an inconsiderate passenger. He removed the passenger seat and used a wet/dry vacuum and a sunny day to dry the footwell. He thought all was well.... Yesterday, while coming to a stop he heard water sloshing _under_ the passenger footwell. He can't tell where the water is located (the passenger compartment is not wet) and there is no mildew smell. Questions: 1: Is it possible that the water is from when his car was flooded and somehow got into the substructure of the car? 2: Is this possibly a symptom of a rogue drain tube? 3: Where might the water be hiding? 4: What can be done ? On a lighter note, I am starting to look for a Miata to replace my current form of transportation. Due to my status as a student, I probably won't be able to run out and get a 94M and I am going to hunt around for a 90 or 91 model, preferably a base or A package in white or silver. Can y'all offer any advice for buying a used Miata? What price should I expect to pay ? What problems are common with these years and should I watch out for? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Don "It sure is nice to stop lurking aroud here." Doherty -- R. Donald Doherty, Jr. Medical College of Virginia M'97 rdoherty@gems.vcu.edu
