Well, actually, the most cost-effective way of improving handling is 
taking driving classes. The skills learned in a performance driving 
school will stick with you forever; long after the time when you no 
longer have your present car (maybe; I plan to keep mine forever. :)). 
Most people, including many driving enthusiasts, have no idea what their 
car's limits are, or what their own limits are. Knowing your limits, and 
your ride's, are much more important for good handling than trick tires. 
IMO, and YMMV, and all that...

Ummm, supposedly, the SP8000 has slightly better wet performance than the 
D40M2. That and the different tread design are the only differences I 
know of.
