RE>Car Ramp Question Tom Manson Writes (5/1/94): "...I put together some 2X12 boards to construct two ramps (I have more faith in solid wood than I do anything else... it's also a little easier to work with). Anyway, now I've got these ramps, that I know will not want to stay put while trying to drive up. How can I most easily make them stay put while I am trying to drive the car up? I've considered boring some 1/2 inch holes in my concrete floor..." I've used the wooden ramp method for about a year, with no problems. I have a "bottom board" that is about twice as long as the top boards. All the boards (2" x 6") are nailed together in a staircase configuration. The first board is narrow enough that the tires easily climb it, and the weight of the car holds the entire assembly down as the car climbs up the stairs. I place the ramps so they touch the tires before driving up, however. Hope this helps, Bob '92 blue B robert_cohen@sdm.buffalo.edu SUNY Buffalo (716) 829-3845 voice (716) 837-7623 fax
