From: tom.manson@pobox.com (Tom Manson) Subject: Air Duct Oddity Date: Sun, 1 May 1994 22:37:41 -0400
Miateers, The subject of this posting may sound a little misleading, but I am curious about the short length (10-12 inches) of extra plastic that runs along the air intake ducting prior to the filter box. Mine is a '93 if that makes any difference. This small plastic duct (probably 1/2 inch in diameter) is on the firewall side of the duct. At the end closest to the opening of the duct it has a larger enclosure (a "box" probably 2" X 3") with no obvious opening to the outside (engine compartment) air. The 1/2 inch duct then runs along about 10-12 inches of the duct and appears to open into the duct near its end. It is a part of the molded plastic ductwork and doesn't appear to me to serve any useful purpose. I am considering rerouting my fresh air ducting and don't want to eliminate an essential element of the duct. Can anyone tell me what this thing is? Tom Tom.Manson@pobox.com Manson@fsd.com
