Probably the highest performing DOT legal tires you would want on your car for the street would be the BFG R1 Roadrace (I forget the number) or the Yokohama A008RS. The autocross versions of both of these tires will work, but are designed to heat up faster and may give you trouble in high temperature situations. (I have driven at 80MPH for several hours at 80+ degree F temperatures on A008RSIIs with no problems however) I'd guess if you start with full tread depth, and use them only for street use, they would last about 5-7,000 miles. (Just a wild guess) One thing you might want to consider is that if you lock your brakes and skid with these tires, you stand a good chance of ruining them. You may not cord them right away, but you will get flat spots that make the tires impossible to balance. Also, when driving with sticky rubber on the street, every piece of gravel and rock will get picked up and thrown against your inner fender and your paint. This can be anoying. Ride quality will suffer a little since these tires are designed for cornering and have very stiff sidewalls. Brian
