Eddie,

I use my Miata for commuting, and I live near Washington D.C., and during the
dog days of summer I definately use the a.c. on the way to work. Just as a
practical matter, I don't want to arrive at work needing another shower, and
even with the top down that can happen when it's really hot and muggy. You say
it's hard to imagine, but round here when it's really hot having the top down
doesn't help much.

On the way home though, I leave the a.c. off ! I am still amazed at just how
sluggish the a.c. makes the car feel; I wouldn't have thought it could drain as
much power as it *feels* like its draining.
