Edward McGee says: > > Can the headrest speakers be added to a stock 94 Miata? How and where do > they attach. Is this something the dealer can do? Perhaps a better question is: Is this something that you can do? The answer to both these questions is an unequivocal yes. There is a zipper that circumvents the headrest portion of the seats, open this, and under the plastic protector, you will see two small holes cast into the foam that makes up the seat. Putting the speakers into these holes when you have the headrest speaker kit is a relatively simple task requiring little more than a long philips screwdriver. After bolting the speaker cases into the factory installed holes, use the screwdriver to feed the wires to the back of the seat, then pull them down with your hand under the fabric. You should be able to feel a trough where the wires can sit all comfy-cozy. The hardest part of the procedure is removing the center console by forcing out the eyeball vents first, then removing about half a dozen screws. The next hardest part is running the wires from the seats to the head unit in an unobtrusive manner. When I did this, it took about 45 minutes, and only because I had to swap speakers in one seat (left-right was installed backwards). I give this task only 1/2 wrench on the Miq scale of 1 to 5 wrenches. -- Miq Millman mmillman@ptdcs2.intel.com 503 642 6139 (Aloha site) AL4-55 Intel, 5200 NE Elam Young Parkway, Hillsboro, OR 97124-6497 See also miq@teleport.com
