Thanks for getting back to me so quickly on my nailed miata. About 50% of you suggested that it would be better to total it. You may be right from a performance standpoint, but I have just about paid it off (that means I am now paying principle and not interest) and finally painted it the color that I wanted: Yellow. It was silver, which is fine for the family stationwagon, but not for a sports car like a Miata. (No offense to those of you out there with silver miata's, this is just a matter of taste and sentimentality as my first sports car, a TR3, was yellow). I checked and probably would be able to get about $13,000 for it if it is totaled. I guess I could replace it for about that, but if I'm going to get another miata, I'd probably want to get a new one, and I was really looking forward to not having any car payments for a while. I still don't know what the damage is to the suspension. My body shop is going to throw it up onto the rack when the insurance adjuster gets there. I hope the pick up points aren't bent but I don't know how you can twist a wheel 20 degree's or so without torquing the pickup points. For those of you who suggested shopping around for a body shop, I have in the past, and that's how I ended up at this one. The place that I use does really nice work, but I have only had experience with them on body work, like little dings and paint jobs, not major stuff like this. I have also seen some of the classic cars that they have restored and they are pristine. Is there anyway that I can insist that only new parts be used for the rear quarter and door? They definitely have to be replaced. The front quarter is only scrapped so it will just need paint. Thanks again for the support and I hope you all have a great weekend out there driving.
