>Has anyone had any experience of replacing the soft top on their Miata? >Are there any recommendations for dealerships, or other Miata parts >places where I should get a good/better price on one? >How easy/difficult is it to remove the old one and install the new? Due to an unfortunate vandalism incident, I have had the misfortune of having mine replaced. My original top was slashed 2 weeks after I got my Miata. The Insurance company reccomended company put on a non-stock top, an 'Electron' top. Supposedly has a lifetime warrantee. So far, I have had 4 different tops on my car. The top-shop guys really dislike the miata, supposedly a difficult installation job. The electron tops appear to be poor quality. I have had glue joints pull apart, and seams start looking badreal soon. The one on my miata now has been on since January. You should see if the installers have any skill with miatas. The difficult part seems to be getting the rear window taut and wrinkle free, and getting the top to lay correctly over the rear spreader bar. ----------------------------------------------------------- Matt Bennett Army Research Lab hazmat@motor.arl.army.mil Microwave Sensors, AMSRL-SS-SG 2800 Powder Mill Road Adelphi, MD 20783 301-394-2530 301-394-4690 (FAX) -----------------------------------------------------------
