I have 41K+ miles on my SP8000s right now (they're below the wear
bars but it's non-rainy season here).  This includes a few 
autocross runs.

They're the 195/55-14s on the stock 5.5" rims.  Steering effort is
no problem on my base model.  However, my next set of tires will
probably be Bridgestone RE71s in the stock 185/60 size.
