From: reb@xyzzy.com (Phydeaux) Subject: Plate in the mouth... Date: Fri, 8 Jul 1994 13:04:09 -0400
Well, we got the new plates for our car yesterday, and I mounted the front one *inside* the mouth, against the two vertical pieces that are a few inches in front of the AC condenser. I figured I'd give it a test and see just what the temperature gauge would do. Well, I'm still kind of wondering if this actually had any effect on air flow. I mean I blocked about half the flow through the mouth, but I drove about 40 miles after I moved the plate. Top up, AC on full blast, 95 or so degrees outside. In stop-n-go traffic it crept from the standard just-under-half point to a hair less than half point. It's a new car, so I doubt I've got a bad thermostat... I recall someone mentioning different air handling ducts in the front of the newer cars... Has anyone else tried this? What were the results? reb '94 M
