If you choose to get a poly-cotton car cover, the ones made of the Sunbrella fabric will last the longest (5 year warranty). (Sunbrella is also used for sun-intensive products such as patio umbrellas.) Other poly-cotton car covers will weaken after about 2 years, if you use it outdoors in the sun all day, and then it will rip as you put in on. I went through 3 non-Sunbrella poly-cotton car covers on my old MR2 between '85-'92. I've had my current Sunbrella cover for my Miata since March 92, and the fabric is holding up fine. I've seen a 5 year old blue Sunbrella car cover which the owner uses on a daily basis at work and home, and it hasn't faded much. There are car covers now made of Tyvek which I would consider if I were buying a cover today, as it would take up less trunk space. Cindy Paloma
