I too like the sleek look of the painted nose but still felt compelled to buy one (to keep it looking sleek). Cars in New Mexico are subject to much chipping by stones kicked up by other vehicles. It is more common for cars to have windshields replaced here than when I lived in the East. But the East has all them bugs :-p (another reason for a mask). The one I purchased is locked on. You have to open the hood to get it off (or cut it). Then again, they could cut the top, open the hood, than take it (I don't even want to think about it). Uneven fading is a risk, but not a great concern as I make great efforts to keep it from fading at all (car cover, garage, wax, etc). You're right, they are a lot of work to put on and take off.
