I'll spare you the jokes, since it seems you've gotten some
already .  I'll only note what I did with my daughters:  I found
a baby seat, and gradually took them on longer and longer rides
so they wouldn't get tired or afraid of the ride.
(maybe this should be in the engine break-in thread.  Hmmmm...).

Now, my 2-year old wants to play, she knows that if I'm too tired
to play "roll the ball",  "lets make bubbles", or "lets jump on 
your belly", she can always say "ride - daddy's car" and I'll go.
She even prefers the top down!  (She's probably softening me up 
for when she needs to borrow it someday!) 

(On the other hand, it didn't work so well on my 5-year old.  She
has a Capri.  Well, it's still got the training wheels on, but
it says "Capri" right there on the handlebars, and it's parked
in the garage next to the Miata.  Drives me crazy).
