Here I am in Houston for two months, 250 miles from home, and Maria (my Miata) decides to start stumbling under acceleration. She has about 28K miles on her, and I suspect the plug wires are going. Probably the Houston humity got to her. (So humid this morning that my glasses fogged up when I walked outside.) So, for the 100th time on this list someone wants to know what are the aftermarket wires of choice. Since all my mags and catalogs are at home, I also need a phone number. I recall some people having success getting the dealer to replace the wires for free. If the wires aren't too expensive I'll pay it just to keep the monkeys away from my car. Speaking of monkeys, I've considered following up on this idea about tracking our collective experiences with dealers. I would expand it to include aftermarket suppliers, too. Since I'm on Netcom, I don't have to worry about my employer getting uptight about libel. Netcom is always uptight, so that's somewhat irrelevant. Here is what I propose: 1. A two week trial period. You send me ideas. Limit to 1 or 2 per person. I collect them and publish the results in some useful format. 2. After two weeks I can bail out and nobody, not even Drake (joke!), can lecture me. I've never attempted anything like this before so I can't anticipate what it will involve. 3. If it works, it may be worth adding to the FAQ. Or it may be large enough to live on its own.
