The problem is improper use of an air wrench. When the shop uses an air wrench, they are much more likely to put the lugnut on to full torqueas soon as they thread it. Just one nut tighetend down to full torque, with the rest left off, even if the one that is on is tightened to the proper torque, is a sure way to warp a rotor. You need to tighten the lugs in the proper pattern, in steps. If you don't do that, you can warp the rotors with the tiny little wrench in the tire kit. Insisting that the dealer use only hand tightening is just a little insurance that the folks at the shop take a little more care. I have heard plenty of times at shops... 'I've been doing it that way for 20 years...' and I say sure you have, on drum brakes and disk brakes that could double for railroad wheels. Just remember: in the proper pattern, in steps to the proper torque. Matt
