The Borla-exhaust discussion flares up here every few months. Seems most everyone likes the performance, sound, and durability of the Borla, but installation difficulties crop up regularly, including: - Pipe comes too near or contacts the differential - Pipe has no heat shield near the differential - Catalytic converter bolts shear off - Muffler hangers cause incorrect orientation of tailpipe in bumper cutout I want to install the Borla exhaust, but every time I look under the car I don't see how anyone could improve much on Mazda's original-equipment pipe between the cat and the muffler. It has good clearance, and heat shielding to boot. Many of the installation problems seem to crop up in replacing this pipe. Do you have experience with the Borla? Can you advise if it is possible to connect the Borla muffler to the stock pipe? Is the allignment of the tubing close enough? Is the Borla pipe diameter close enough? How would you do it?
