A week ago today, I posted the following piece of fiction. I must say that this is one of the nicest mailing lists I have ever seen. Not a single flame. Just a grin, a wink, a chuckle, and a Tom Hanks. However, I was disappointed that no one picked up on my clue that the entire story was a hoax. Knowing that the clue is there, can you find it now? (hint: firsts) BTW, some of the story is true. I DO own a '90 blue B package, I DID go to NIU which IS in DeKalb which IS the hometown of Mrs. Gere. And it IS a great car. The rest is just my version of humor. };-> JJ ------------------------------ I want to share what happened to me with everybody! Aware that the miata is one cool car, I proceeded to the town of DeKalb, Illinois (home of Northern Illinois University, my Alma Mater) to show off my '90 mariner blue baby to some old colleagues. Many of you probably know that DeKalb is also the hometown of Cindy Crawford. Once there, I decide to cruise the streets just hoping old friends will see me. Nice little town, DeKalb is. Little is right; not much happens there. Yet, you won't believe what happened next! Just imagine my surprise when a long, white limo pulls up next to me, the window rolls down, and Cindy sticks her head out to say, "Cool car!" Of course, this fazes me not (Ha!) and I (not so coolly) say, "Thanks! Er... uh... that is... um... care for a ride?" Knowing full well that she will laugh in my face and tell her driver to dent me for spite, I was completely aghast when she said, "Sure!" I quickly gathered my wits about me long enough to ask her where she was going and if she wanted me to drive her there. Next thing I know, we are on our way to her mother's house with the limo in tow, chatting about this, that, DeKalb, NIU, and the pure luck of being in the right place at the right time. Great car, my little miata!
