A friend has a '90 without any sill protectors, and both sills are very scratched. Worse, there's a lot of rust in the scratches (but there's no rust anywhere else on the car that I can see). Of course, he likes to drive it in the winter in Buffalo, so that means road salt. I guess the advisability of sill plates may depend on where you live, and how careful you (and your passengers) are when entering/leaving the car. Bob
