From: Jonathan Webb Subject: Top 10 reasons for no top down Date: Thu, 1 Sep 1994 05:25:12 -0400
Alice, as a fellow SCOite miata driver I'm seriously dissapointed in you finding such a list of excuses. Here in London, Autumn (sorry fall) has just set in. It's down to about 10C, its drizzling and the roads are wet. So I get rooster out of her garage where she lives with the hood down, protected from bird guano, tree sap, weather and the local hooligans. Leaving it down saves time in the morning as I'm perpetually late for work and if I'd hurt my back - it's down anyway. Shotings don't generally worry me in London because we have gun control laws :-) and I sport a monk's tonsure of a haircut so we can forget the state of my hair at work. As I said, this morning its drizzling, so the hat and sunscreen are rather unnecessary. She lives under a roof at work as well, so no need to put the hood up there either. Now considering the conditions, in most cars you'd just drive to work on a miserable day BUT NOT IN ROOSTER ! No, the roads are damp and there are plenty of nice CORNERS on the way to work where rooster and I can play sideslides with big grins..... - Jonathan Purely my own speculation which includes some of the reasons why I don't have the top down as often as I'd like: 10. Image (I don't get it - I think it looks better to have the top down) 9. Flimsy protection from drive-by shootings 8. Flimsy protection from car-jackings 7. Protects leather seats from bird sh*t 6. Protects *you* from bird sh*t 5. Gotta have neat hair when you arrive at work/wedding/etc. 4. Left the sunscreen/hat/etc. at home and it's too bright outside 3. Hurt your back so you can't even move it (unfortunately that's me) 2. Top was wet when I left for work this morning (happens to me a lot) 1. Chronically running late so no time to take it down (guilty!) As you can probably tell, I went from the lamest reason to probably the most realistic reasons that I could come up with. Of course, none of the lame reasons apply to me. Nah, never! :-) Well, maybe the leather seat one. I also seem to have some kind of tree sap from the trees at work. I think we can debate this forever, but now you have a list of possible explanations! -alice _________________________________________________________________________ Alice T.
