In response to recent posts re rattles near the lower steering column:

I had a very annoying rattle in this area, which I eventually found to be
due to a small white rectangular box which appears to house some
electronics for the airbag.  The box is plastic, and clips on with a
(in my case weak or broken) plastic clip.  I managed to wedge it in place
with a small rag, which has cured the rattle for me.  Good luck.
