I recently noted that my black '93C pings gently on hard acceleration in 3rd
gear but seems ok at other speeds. I am using 87 octane (Mobil). My question
is: should I use a higher octane gas (e.g., 89), will this light pinging hurt
the engine, or should I just let it go. I have used 89 ocatane in the past
with no pings but  the car seems happier with 87. Any information would be
appreciated.
