>About 3 months ago the car started choking when I stopped at a stop >light and/or stop sign. You can literally see the rpms go down to the >first small notch above 0 - at that point the car either chokes and >violently shakes until it "fixes" itself or it cuts completely off. >Has anyone else experienced this problem??? Any ideas???? Yes. Two possibilities occur to me. Both were described in back issues of Miata Magazine. One is you may need the idle and idle droop adjusted. This is a idle screw and a dash-pot affair on the throttle body. The other is less likely. It is the tendency for some Miata's ICV shuttle to stick. There was a thread on the net on this, too. I believe it involves disconnecting the ICV harness to force a stroke of the valve and, hopefully, free it up. These things sound so easy, I wonder if your dealer has already tried them? Bill Allen
