From: Jeff Webber Subject: Horrible Expensive Noise Date: Tue, 6 Sep 1994 11:19:10 -0400
Everything was fine with my 90 Miata until this morning. When I went to start it up it started fine but there was a horrible LOUD clacking noise. I turned it off, checked the oil and tried again. The noise appeared to quiet a bit but was still far too loud for me to consider driving it today. The car ran fine yesterday when I backed it out of the garage, washed it and put it back in. Note: I've heard ticking from the lifters sometimes in the morning and this is not what I'm hearing. This is loud! If I let it idle (which it does just fine) it appears to be running fine (no misses). Any Ideas? Am I going to have to sell my 65 Mustang Convertible to repair the engine? Should I take it to a dealer as the car has only 37,000 miles on it in the hopes of some secret warranty? Or should I take it to the guy I trust? jeff
