Brian Bousman asked about replacement parts. I just learned that there is now an alternative to the Panasonic battery used on the Miata, at a much more reasonable cost! Locally, a battery manufactured by Johnson Controls, Inc (maker of Sear's Diehard battery), and rebadged as a Interstate battery, can be bought for $60 - $70. While slightly larger, it will fit in the same footprint area and, can use the stock hold-down bracketry. One of our members has had it in her Miata for several months and it's been quite satisfactory. It is a "maintenance-free" battery with no vents, as are on the Panasonic. The factory battery has a rating of 32 amp-hours. The Interstate is rated at 50 amp-hours. Bill Allen - Seattle
