Right off hand, I can't recall checking any mile markers which were too far
apart (although there must be some).  Either they seem to be pretty nearly
correct (but since one sees so many that are obviously off, one never knows)
or are somewhat short.  I wonder if the authorities set them up like this on
purpose, figuring that we'll check our speeds by these "accurate" speed
checks, and slow down accordingly.  What the authorities don't seem to get,
is that those who don't pay much attention to the posted speeds, also don't
pay much attention to their mile markers.  And those that do, quickly
realize that the markers are generally a crock and can't be trusted.  YMMV,
of course (had to throw that in!)
