You will need to > figure out which wire it is and switch 'em back. Remembering that post as I was getting into the car this morning, I checked its behavior and it is the same. Light when door open, not when headlights on. So it seems to be the intended operation. Mine is a '93 too. Maybe other years behave differently. BTW, actually... I don't think there was any illumination at all on the cig. lighter. It very much seemed like it was simply the "knee light" that was illumninating the green plastic circle from the inside, thus the glow.
