Hi, I'm searching THE way to put bikes on my car and I believe I've found one good solution. There's something offered by motorsports auto (714.639.2620). There solution is to attach a trailer hitch and then attach a rack to the hitch that sticks straight up and one can hang the bikes on the rack. The solution seems clean enough since they are reusing existing holes from the tie-down hooks that come with the car to attach the trailer hitch. (class-1) so the installation should be EZ. The cost for the hitch is $135 and $70 for the rack. Looking at their design, the hitch seems simple enough to make. I had though about spec-ing out a design that would reuse these same brackets but it seems they've done the work for me. I've no affiliation with motorsports. As a matter of fact, I tend to cringe at their prices but they do tend to have what I want. I wondered if anyone on the list had any experience with it or if they found someone who manufactured the hitch/rack setup for less. The hitch looks really simple so I'm a bit skeptical over the price. I know having a hitch installed at a shop is more expensive than $135 but this is a bolt on design and should be, imo, cheaper. I have posted before for suggestions and got back great answers for racks that sit on top of the trunk. But this is an alternative I don't want to use. Besides, a trailer hitch might come in handy in towing race-tires to an event, if I ever got really into it. thanks, -Carlos
