Jonathan,

The zipper on Wendy's soft top separated last summer after 3+ years of
use, and I had an upholstery shop (trimmer's) replace the zipper.  It
cost $280 (US) because they had to remove the whole top (hood) from the
car to get it into the giant sewing machine they have.  But the zipper
they put in is much sturdier than the original.

Mazda wouldn't replace the zipper under warranty for me because they said
it was due to excessive wear.  They were right--I used to have the bad
habit of zipping and unzipping the rear window without unlatching the
top (hood) first.  No more!
