Subject: one noise solution

After seeing the discussion of noise reduction, I couldn't resist sending
this story.  My brother's elderly father-in-law, since passed away, had a
nasty, rusty old GM full-size pickup truck, which was appropriately named
"Splutterguts".  It had little or nothing in the way of an exhaust system.
One day my brother hopped in for a ride with his father-in-law.  Upon
starting the truck, the old man immediately reached up and turned his
hearing aid off.  He looked over at my brother, winked, and said, "truck
runs much quieter this way".

I guess noise is in the ear of the beholder?
