The best that can be said is that they keep the rims off the road. :) Most modern high-performance tires do quite well in rain, at least while they still have reasonable tread left. (I can tell you that Yokohama AVS-Is *suck* in the rain when you've got wear bars showing. :)) In the winter, I put snow tires on my car. As for ice, if there's ice on the road, the Miata is *not* a good choice for your daily commute. Then too, anything less than a Hummer is probably not a good choice with ice on the road. :) For getting home in my Miata when it's icy, I carry chains all winter long. Note I said "For getting home." I don't even *try* to get to work when there's ice on the major thoroughfares. I have a very long drive, which turns into a 4 hour nightmare when it's icy. All this is, of course, IMO. -- Ken *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Ken Warren E-Mail: kenw@netaxs.com *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Philly region auto-x is over for the year.
