Kay-Bee toy stores in the Washington D.C. area are selling the $12.99
Miata kits from Tamiya for $4.99 right now and they seem to have a 
good amount of stock left (for you locals, we wiped out Lake Forest 
Mall; Laurel still has some).  They also have other
cars such as a Mazda RX-7 convertible, Ferrari's etc.  We haven't
put ours together yet but it looks pretty nice and accurate and
also was designed with the assistance of Mazda.  It is a 1990-1993
model and is painted to the color of your choice.  I haven't seen any
other models so I can't compare them.
