I've considered replacing my seats also. The lateral support isn't too good, although with a 5-point racing harness, it's not too bad. I've tried this out on the SCCA's Thunderhill road course during a driving school. I mostly want different seats to lower myself. For racing, a rollbar is required and I have installed the Hard Dog bar. However, the SCCA also requires that your head with helmet be two inches below the bar. I'm also fairly tall (6'-1"), and with the helmet am not two inches below. I've seen several seats advertised in the SCCA racing magazine, some for as low as $200. I haven't ordered any yet because I'm worried about fitting them to the Miata's non-flat floor. I'm worried about finding brackets for it. I haven't called the manufacturers, so perhaps my worry in unfounded. If you decide to look into it, I'd be interested in what you find out. I can send you names and phone numbers, if you like. I've been getting my racing supplies from Frey racing in Mountain View. They're on Plymouth near the CostCo at Rengstorff and 101. From Rengstorff, turn onto Plymouth (it only goes one direction from Rengstorff) and go the the end. It looks like a residential area, but keep going. Frey's has several seats in stock for you to look at. They're all the more expensive models (like $500), but they can order others and help you install them. Frey's doesn't have the best prices, but they're real nice and very helpful. They'll make sure things are right for you. Greg 93C Black and tan
