Subject: Infamous Misfire

Miateers,
I want to thank all and any who posted information on the List regarding 
misfiring being corrected by the replacement of the Spark plug wires.  
This past Wednesday while preparing for a business trip to Houston, Mimi 
started to misfire.  Symptoms were very similar if not identical to 
those published on the List.  All during my trip I was distracted 
with the thought of whether Mimi was going to get me home from the 
airport and what the significaance of the problem might be.  Avoiding the 
cost of a dealership checkout and the risk of dealership-mechanic 
mis-handling, I opted to take a chance that the wires were the problem.

I changed plugs and wires this morning and returned to her to service 
within an hour.  I was thankful for the List, all of you posters and the 
reliability of the Miata.  Three cheers for all!

Also of note were the facts the my favorite dealership (Pateros Mazda, 
Leesburg, Virginia) was open all day Saturday, the Parts department had 
the interest to ask me whether I was an MCA member (which qualified me 
for a 15% discount), and that Mazda had just lowered the price of their 
spark plugs (but at $1.50 each for four, who can complain!?)

It's been a pretty good day all around!
