I think the reason the guy is selling his car for less than normal is because it needs new tires and it has the paint spots. I think the spots are not that noticeable, but they are noticeable that they don't look all that good. I wouldn't be discouraged from buying it because of them, but I'd rather get one without the spots. On the trunk one of the spots is all the way through thepaint and the primer (white) is showing through. There is another spot this bad on the passenger door area. I think I might have it repainted after I own it for a while if I really start to get bothered by the marks. I think that's why he lowered the price. He originally asked $9000 for it, but I talked him down to $8200. Yeah, pretty good price. I would be a little suspicious too, but the guy _seems_ really sincere and honest. He lives in a nice looking house in Carlsbad, his wife drives a BMW, he drives a 4X4 and the Miata was the "weekend" car. That's why the miles are low. He took really good casre of it and the inside is ! I drove it quite a bit and it is mechanically sound. No squeeks, really tight, good exhaust note, and it feels fine power wise. He has all the receipts for the service he has had done and it has an alarm. He recently did the battery, which sounds like a fairly expensive one, and he had the catalytic converter replaced under warranty. Whenever you buy a used car your taking a gamble that you could be getting royally screwed, but the overall appearance, driving impression, etc of this car makes it seem like it really is a good one aside ffrom the mild paint damage. the guy also makes me trust him. His house is really tidy and his garage was impeccably neat. He also had all the records in a little folder , repair records.... anyway, I'm looking forward to getting it. I'll call Chris about the club. HOpe to see you there. Sean scrandel@sdcc13.ucsd.edu
