Welcome to the wonderful world of Miatas, Sean. You could not find many better places to live and own one. I am a little en-v-us. Anyway.....don't....repeat....*don"t* ever put that lovely little ol' top down without unzipping the window first. If you want confirmation that this is the right thing to do, look around town for some of those rental Miatas that rarely (if ever) get the window unzipped. They're easy to find...just look for the horizontal line or crack about halfway up the rear window. And when you do this, please use the following procedure: 1. Undo the two latches first. This takes some of the tension off the window 2. Unzip the window (BTW....protecting it with a towel or one of the aftermarket pockets ain't a bad idea) 3. fold back the top to put it up: 1. Erect....but do *not* latch the top 2. zip the window 3. Latch the top One of the few curses of the Miata is the old "zipper tab comes off" when you do not take the tension off the top. Some of the other netters will likely give their opinion....I hardly ever use the cover, unless I am certain that the top will be down for a while. Lunchtime zips about town do not qualify as *a while*. Best of luck with your new car, Sean. Drive safe and have fun!! Ken Stoorza White '90B
