Last week I received a set of Clearwater headrest speakers for my 92 base model. The wiring is a piece of cake. Getting the cables through the seat to the speakers took about 15 minutes per side, using a coat hanger. The instructions are VERY clear and easy to read. Regarding the sound, it does help quite a bit with the top down, but they are pretty heavy on the high end (of course what did I expect from a 2 way 3" speaker!). Now the bad news. They don't seem to fit very well. The problem is with the magnets on the back. They are so large that they won't clear the metal plate on the back of the headrests, and because of this the speakers won't fit flush with the front of the headrest. It's still possible to close up the headrest, but it bulges a bit and doesn't look very good. I'm also worried about distorting the frame of the speakers. I will be speaking to the folks at Clearwater soon about this. From the traffic on the net, I gather that they are a quality minded organization, and I hope they have some advice. Of course, any info from any of you would be appreciated. Thanks! Dale Kirstein 92 White Base model, Colorado Regions SCCA
